Tim Travis

Founder & Instructor

Tim Travis has been a dedicated law enforcement professional in the State of Texas since 1987. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of critical roles, including Patrol Officer, Community Policing Officer, White Collar Crimes Investigator, and as an agent with a Statewide Narcotics Task Force, conducting long-term narcotics investigations and undercover operations.

In 2002, Tim joined the Round Rock Police Department, where he served in multiple capacities before retiring in 2021 as a Lieutenant in Special Operations. His extensive law enforcement background is complemented by a commitment to education, leadership, and officer development, making him a trusted expert in public safety training.

Tim holds a bachelor’s degree from American Military University and a Master of Science in Leadership from Sam Houston State University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas, and an FBI LEEDA Trilogy graduate. His law enforcement certifications include:

• Firearms Instructor & Patrol Rifle Instructor

Tim’s passion for instruction has led him to teach standalone courses as well as blocks of instruction in Basic Peace Officer Courses. His teaching experience spans a wide range of institutions and agencies, including:

Military Service & Leadership

Tim also had an esteemed military career, serving in the U.S. Army Reserve and Texas National Guard from 1982 until his retirement as a First Sergeant in 2015. Over the course of six deployments to Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan, he served in Infantry, Artillery, and Counterintelligence roles. His military accolades include:

Personal Life

Tim and his wife, Tammy, have been married for 27 years and reside on 46 acres in Central Texas. They enjoy time with their three children and five grandchildren, embracing a life of service, leadership, and community engagement.

Darin Bayles

Founder & Instructor

Darin Bayles has proudly served in law enforcement since 1993, beginning his career at the Williamson County Constable’s Office before dedicating over 25 years to the Round Rock Police Department. Throughout his tenure, he has worked in a variety of roles, including patrol, SWAT, motors, and Field Training Officer (FTO). In 2007, he was promoted to sergeant, supervising general crimes, domestic crimes, and major crimes investigations in the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) for nearly 12 years. In 2019, he was promoted to lieutenant, serving in patrol, special operations, and now leading as a lieutenant in CID.

Darin’s commitment to education and mentorship is reflected in his extensive instructing experience:

• Assisted in formal instruction for the Round Rock Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy classes 14, 15, and 16, covering patrol procedures and basic arrest procedures.

• Provided instruction for four Basic Peace Officer Course academies on Sex Offenders and two academies on Criminal Investigations.

• Played a key role in developing the “Response to a Robbery” training program for 35 financial institutions, preparing banking staff to respond effectively during a robbery.

• Trained all commissioned personnel and advanced academy officers on Missing & Exploited Children investigations.

• Delivered instruction to the Victim Services Academy on Law Enforcement Response to Domestic Violence and conducted in-service training on Sexual Assault Investigations.
